Class Description

In the course some problems related to the chemical reactions conducted under conditions in which they are in competition with the heat/mass transport processes are discussed. The behavior in terms of selectivity and conversion of complex systems in ideal reactors, the role of micro and the macro – mixing, simple turbulence models, models of interaction between turbulence and chemical reactions and their extension in computational fluid dynamics programs, methods of estimation of the significant characteristic times of the process are also discussed. Runaway processes in stirred reactors. Parametric sensitivity and runaway in tubular reactors.
